THINK ON THIS:

We never need to look far to find hurt, pain, unrest, and chaos. At a 15-minute glance at any news outlet, we will find that evil, treachery, deceit, and violence abound in our world. If The News is something to attempt to avoid, first, I applaud you for staying focused on the opinions that are called “Reporting Today.” However, we never need to look outside our own circle of friends, neighbors, and family to find the hurt that this world brings. Often, it is a new medical diagnosis, a lost heartbeat within an expecting mother, or the words “I don’t love you anymore.” These and so many other scenarios are being played out all around us.

In moments like this, in the wrestling within the valleys of life, we may ponder, if not actually verbalize, “Where are you, God?” “How long will you be silent?”

In many ways, this is the opening chapter of the book of Habakkuk. Within Habakkuk’s lifetime, he witnessed the horrors of sin and the apparent victory of those who have forgotten and neglected the Lord. In the midst of his anguish, Habakkuk asks the Lord, “How long Lord must I call for help…”(Hab. 1:2). Maybe you have recently left a season where you asked God, How Long? Or, you are in the middle of this very season. Wherever this thought finds you today, will you rest in the assurance that God is working; God is listening? According to his great wisdom, God will act in the perfect time.

APPLY:

• Create a timeline of your life. Along this timeline mark major milestones and setbacks. When and where did God reveal himself in those moments?
• During these moments in your life, did you ever wonder or even ask, “God where are you?’ or “how long?” With the help of reflection, are you able to see where God moved at exactly the right time?
• Who along your timeline was placed in your life (permanently or for a season only) who was an instrument of God in your hard moments?
• During those moments in your life, who did God place within your life permanently or for only a season? These are the people who represented God in these moments; the ambassadors of God who revealed that HE was/is mindful of you.

Nunca necesitamos mirar muy lejos para encontrar dolor, malestar y caos. Con un vistazo de 15 minutos a cualquier medio de comunicación, descubriremos que en nuestro mundo abundan la maldad, la traición, el engaño y la violencia. Si las noticias son algo que debemos intentar evitar, primero, lo aplaudo por mantenerse enfocado en las opiniones que se llaman “Reportando”. Sin embargo, nunca necesitamos mirar fuera de nuestro propio círculo de amigos, vecinos y familiares para encontrar el dolor que trae este mundo. A menudo, se trata de un nuevo diagnóstico médico, la pérdida del latido del corazón de una futura madre o las palabras “Ya no te amo”. Estos y muchos otros escenarios se están desarrollando a nuestro alrededor.

En momentos como este, en la lucha dentro de los valles de la vida, podemos reflexionar, si no verbalizar, “¿Dónde estás, Dios?” “¿Cuánto tiempo estarás en silencio?”

En muchos sentidos, este es el capítulo inicial del libro de Habacuc. Durante su vida, Habacuc fue testigo de los horrores del pecado y de la aparente victoria de aquellos que han olvidado y descuidado al Señor. En medio de su angustia, Habacuc le pregunta al Señor: “¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, he de pedirte ayuda…(Hab. 1:2). Tal vez hayas dejado recientemente una temporada en la que le preguntaste a Dios, ¿Hasta cuándo? O estás en medio de esta misma temporada. Dondequiera que te encuentre este pensamiento hoy, descansarás con la seguridad de que Dios está obrando; ¿Dios está escuchando? Según su gran sabiduría, Dios actuará en el tiempo perfecto.

APPLICACIÓN:

• Crea una línea de tiempo de tu vida. Durante esta línea de tiempo, hay eventos y cambios importantes. ¿Cuándo y dónde se reveló Dios en esos momentos?
• Durante estos momentos de tu vida, ¿alguna vez te preguntaste o incluso preguntaste: “Dios, ¿dónde estás?” o “¿cuánto tiempo?” Con la ayuda de la reflexión, ¿puedes ver dónde se movió Dios exactamente en el momento adecuado?
• Durante esos momentos de tu vida, ¿a quién colocó Dios en tu vida de forma permanente o solo por una temporada? Estas son las personas que representaron a Dios en estos momentos; los embajadores de Dios que revelaron que ÉL tenía/tiene memoria de vosotros.
