A couple of years ago my wife and I were at an amusement park with our kids and one of the attractions was this strange house where everything in it was weird and crazy. I guess it was a type of “fun house.” There was one particular part of that house that my kids loved. It was this room full of mirrors that would distort and contort your body to look ridiculous. They’d look in one mirror, see their giant heads, and die laughing. Then they’d go to the next mirror, see almost no head, and die laughing again. This would go on and on, from mirror to mirror… you get the point.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)

Scripture, when speaking of itself, says it is useful in teaching us what is true and helping us realize what is wrong with our lives. In other words, Scripture has the keen ability to act like a mirror into our hearts. It shows us who we are. The good, the bad, and everything in between. We might not always like what we see, but that’s the beauty of the living Word of God – it speaks to us, showing us, and teaching us who we are in light of the Gospel.

REFLECT:

• What do you tend to do when you come across passages of the Bible that make you feel uncomfortable about yourself? Do you ignore them or do you lean in to unpack what God might be showing you about your heart?
• Take a moment and reflect on something you’ve read in Scripture that revealed something about your heart. Ask God to give you wisdom and guidance as you seek to apply it to who you are.

 
 

Tengo Preguntas | Día Siete – Semana Tres

Hace un par de años, mi esposa y yo estábamos en un parque de diversiones con nuestros hijos y una de las atracciones era esta extraña casa donde todo era raro y loco. Supongo que era una especie de “casa de diversión”. Había una parte particular de esa casa que a mis hijos les encantaba. Era esta habitación llena de espejos que distorsionaban y contorsionaban tu cuerpo para lucir ridículo. Se mirarían en un espejo, verían sus cabezas gigantes y morirían de risa. Luego iban al siguiente espejo, casi no veían la cabeza y morían de risa otra vez. Esto seguiría y seguiría, de espejo en espejo… entiendes el punto.

“Toda la Escritura es inspirada por Dios y útil para enseñar, para reprender, para corregir y para instruir en la justicia,” 2 Timoteo 3:16 (NLT)

La Escritura, cuando habla de sí misma, dice que es útil para enseñarnos lo que es verdad y ayudarnos a darnos cuenta de lo que está mal en nuestras vidas. En otras palabras, la Escritura tiene la gran habilidad de actuar como un espejo en nuestros corazones. Nos muestra quiénes somos. Lo bueno, lo malo y todo lo demás. Puede que no siempre nos guste lo que vemos, pero esa es la belleza de la Palabra viva de Dios: nos habla, nos muestra y nos enseña quiénes somos a la luz del Evangelio.

REFLEJAR:

• ¿Qué sueles hacer cuando te encuentras con pasajes de la Biblia que te hacen sentir incómodo contigo mismo? ¿Lo ignoras o se inclina para desempacar lo que Dios podría estar mostrándole acerca de su corazón?
• Tómate un momento y reflexiona sobre algo que hayas leído en las Escrituras que haya revelado algo sobre tu corazón. Pídele a Dios que te dé sabiduría y guía mientras buscas aplicarla a quién eres.
